Social Development in 2007
In 2007, having aware of our social responsibility, TFD continued to do social work by supporting programs and conducting activities proven to benefit the society as follows.
Children’s Development Activity
TFD continued to give scholarships to students to promote education, research activity and to relieve those in need of financial help. TFD collaborated with the following education institutes and foundations as follows:
1. Housing Welfare Foundation of the Din Daeng and Huay Kwang Community
Grants were giving to low-income earners living in the National Housing Authority’s Dindaeng and Huay Kwang Housing Project. These annual grants were divided into three levels as follows:
- Scholarships for primary school students (Primary School 1-6)
- Scholarships for secondary school students (Secondary School 1-6 and vocational education)
- Scholarships for university students (College/university)
2. Chula Dusadee Pipat Project
Together with Chulalongkorn University, TFD provided scholarships for potential students to continue their PhD study. The grant was given to both lecturers and PhD students wishing to explore new knowledge in any field. Scholarships under the program also enabled students to do R&D work at local and international education institutes.
TFD continued to promote sports among Thai children by allocating an annual budget so that they could have an opportunity to train in their favorite sports.
TFD participated in the “Nam Jai for Roi Yim” (Giving in Exchange for the Smile) Project by coordinating with needy schools and the Border Patrol Police who were teaching and taking care of children there. The four schools were BPP Cognis Thai and BBP Conrad Henkel at Sakhon Nakhon Province; and BPP Ban Nong Du and BPP Ban Had Sai Pae at Nakhon Phanom Province. TFD gave scholarships, books and teaching materials to the schools, helped repairing teaching and learning medias and maintaining school’s condition and sports equipment as well as supported school’s lunch.
On Halloween, TFD and English Solutions Co., Ltd. went to the following seven orphanages to provide assistance:
- Foundation of Orphans of Thailand
- Duangprateep Foundation
- Boy’s Orphanage at Ban Mahamek
- Father Joe Foundation’s Baan Metta
- Emergency Home
- CCF Poor Children Welfare Foundation
- A project to help needy schools in rural areas under the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand
Baan Gerda is a foundation supported by German organizations and friends that extends help to children affected by HIV/AIDS. These infected children have lost their parents and their number is increasing every day.
TFD donated money to the cause to help building shelters for infected orphans, to provide medicine and to prepare them to live in the society.
Together with the Book Center of Chulalongkorn University, TFD brought a pocket library to children at the school as part of the book center’s project to bring “60 pocket libraries to 60 schools” designed to allow children an access to books of their ages.
In 2007, TFD continued its four social projects that it had helped the year before while initiating two additional projects for the first time. We hope that these projects will make us living happily and harmoniously in the same society. TFD’s executives and staff commit to continue doing it in the future.
