Social Development in 2008
Thai Factory Development Public Company Limited (TFD) continued in 2008 to pursue a social and environmental development policy to fulfill its intent in exercising its corporate social responsibility to the society. TFD provided support and assistance to improve quality of life of Thai children as they are the next generation to take care of our future through the following projects:
Children’s Development Activity
TFD provided assistance to improve conditions of schools or education institutions as well as scholarships to children and young adults to the following:
1. The 100th Anniversary of King Rama V Project of the Association of Chulalongkorn University Alumni
TFD donated money to the Chula Welfare Fund set up to provide financial assistance to Chulalongkorn University students having financial difficulty. In addition, to commemorate King Rama V, TFD also initiated a project to build a new home for the Association of Chulalongkorn University Alumni, which if complete will be a new office for alumni affairs of all faculties for the benefit of Chulalongkorn University and the country.
2. The Din Daeng and Huay Kwang Community Housing Welfare Project
Together with the Din Daeng and Huay Kwang Community Housing Welfare Foundation, TFD has given away annual scholarships to students in three levels as follows:
- Primary school students (From Primary School Year 1 to Year 6)
- Secondary school students (From Secondary School Year 1 to Year 6 and vocational school students)
- University school students (College and university levels)
TFD provided support to the “Your Kindness for their Smile” Project, which took needy supplies and school materials to students in two Border Patrol Police Schools in Nan Province. Most of 200 students of the BPP School for the Commemoration of the 100th Birthday of Princess Mother and the BPP School of the Makkasan Railway Boy Scout Commander are hill-tribe people of Lua and Khmu ethnicity who are living in poverty.
On Halloween Day, TFD together with English Solutions Co Ltd organized entertainment activities and gave away necessary supplies to orphans and children from five welfare and shelter homes as follows:
- The Human Resource Development Center
- The Emergency Home Foundation
- The Ratchavitthi Home for Girlsk
- The Ratchavitthi Home for Boys
- The Sikkha Asia Foundation
TFD donated money to renovate the Ban Klong Bang Kok School to improve the school’s ability to handle students in its area. At present, the renovation remains ongoing due to a lack of financial resources and enough budgets to improve conditions of its classrooms, workshop, canteen and teacher’s residences.
Together with our staff, TFD collected recycled paper and donated it to students of the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand to maximize the use of the paper as it would be used in the teaching of the visual-impaired students using Braille.
TFD and the Pranburi Administration Organization of Prachuab Kiri Khan Province helped planting trees along Khao Rod 2 Road to improve the scenery and provide shades to commuters and communities living in the area.
Several projects that TFD organized throughout 2008 continued to express our commitments to improve quality of life of Thai children and to enhance education quality for their future and the future of the country. In 2008, we also added public service activities to our CSR activity for the benefits of communities living closed to our projects with an aim to strengthen our relationship with our neighbors. We will continue to initiate creative and beneficial projects for the Thai society.
