Corporate Social Development in 2011

Thai Factory Development Public Company Limited (TFD) and its subsidiaries were aware that for a business to remain sustainable, its growth must be in tandem with its social responsibility. This concerns especially care and benefits created for and extended to communities in areas where we conduct our business.

2011 was the year Thailand suffered the worst flood in its history. Several provinces and Bangkok were submerged in water for months, which caused a lot of suffering for families and communities longing for food and daily supplies. That’s why TFD conducted a community relation activity to far-flung communities and those suffering from the disaster. In summary, TFD provided education, environmental and public supports through projects which allowed involvements of our staff and related communities. They were:

Flood relief activity

- Distribution of survival kits to flood victims at Bangsai District, Ayutthaya Province

Together with the “Kindness in Return for Your Smile” Project, TFD, led by its CSR team, conducted a flood-affected area in |Ayutthaya Province and found that 130 households in Tambon Bangpaeng, Bangsai District, Ayutthaya Province, suffered from the flood and were not yet assisted by any agency. TFD eventually distributed survival kits to each household to relieve their plight and to provide moral support for them to go through this difficult time.

Education activity

- Sponsoring cabinet of books through the “Books for Future, Books for 840 schools” Project

On the 84th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King, TFD, having realized that one of his missions is to enhance education and knowledge of Thai children by highlighting an importance of reading and by focusing at giving children of all ages an easier access to new, good and appropriate books, was collaborating with the Tongkasem for Education Foundation and Nanmee Books Co Ltd in organizing the “Books for Future, Books for 840 Schools” Project.

Through the project, TFD provided financial support to buy books for primary and secondary students nationwide including those in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand via their schools. The goal is to create a desire among children to read and to embark on a journey to search for new knowledge which will be the basis for their education and their future.

Youth development activity

- Financial support for the solo piano performance

For the first time, TFD provided financial support to a music performance. Stephanie Onggowinoto, the Indonesian pianist, performed her solo recital as part of the Stephanie Debut in Thailand project sponsored by TFD at the auditorium of the Bangkok Cultural center. TFD’s support behind the pianist was part of our intention to allow young music players a platform to do what they love, to promote concentration in children and to enhance their expression capacity before the public.

TFD hoped that its social activities in 2011 in Bangkok and in the provinces would give something back to communities and the society for the sustainable development of this world.
